天才ジオラマアニメーターMOZU氏のプロダクトである、錯視トリックノート「NOUTO」。ごくごく普通のノートに書いた絵が、あたかも飛び出したように見えるこの作品を「複製」して、この楽しさを多くの人に体験してもらいたいという思いを実現するために様々な提案を行いました。

用紙は普通のノートに見えることが重要ですから、表紙用紙も本文用紙も、たくさんの候補の中から選び出した、本物に見える用紙。色数も、当初2色(スミと特色赤)の予定でしたが、よりリアルに忠実に原画を再現していくために、再現性が高まる4色印刷に変更。さらに、ノートの罫線も特色グレーに変更して5色印刷となりました。

こうしてカラー印刷に変更されたのを機に、MOZU氏が新たにカラフルでそしてより飛び出す作品をいくつも書き下ろしてくれたおかげで、作品はさらに充実。印刷側でも、この作品の重要なポイントでもある影の微妙なニュアンスなどを再現するために網点をフェアドットにするなどして、さらにリアルな仕上がりを目指しました。
そしてもちろん、普通のノートと同じように、製本は中ミシン綴じ。製本テープや見出しシールも貼り、さらには箔押しまで施すこだわりようです。

Optical illusion trick notebook “NOUTO” is a product of genius diorama animator MOZU. We made a variety of proposals in order to realize our desire to “reproduce” this work, which looks like a picture drawn on a very ordinary notebook, and to have as many people as possible experience this joy.

It is important that the paper looks like a normal notebook, so both the cover paper and the body paper were selected from a large number of candidates and looked like the real thing. The number of colors was originally planned to be 2 colors (stains and special red), but in order to more realistically and faithfully reproduce the original painting, it was changed to 4 colors, which increases reproducibility. Additionally, the notebook’s borders have been changed to a special gray color, making it printed in 5 colors.

With this change to color printing, Mr. MOZU has created a number of new, colorful and more eye-catching works, which has further enriched the work. On the printing side, we aimed for an even more realistic finish by using fair dots to reproduce the subtle nuances of shadows, which are an important aspect of this work.
And of course, just like a regular notebook, the binding is machine stitched. They seem to be particular about applying binding tape, heading stickers, and even foil stamping.
