Goldwinブランドの可能性を引き出すための実験的なプラットフォーム、Goldwin0。さまざまな領域のクリエイターとの協業によって、先進的かつ実験的に、人と自然がともにある未来を構想するプロジェクトです。

Goldwin0 #5 としての本を作成しました。デザインは、イギリスの世界的デザイン集団OK-RM様。厚手の並製本にさらに雁垂れ表紙をつけ、その前後の雁垂れ部分に中綴じの冊子をつけるという仕様です。かなり特殊な仕様ですが、遠方ながらやり取りを重ねて仕様の決定をさせていただきました。また今回様々な事情で色校正をOK-RM様側にお出しをできなかったので、データとしての色の基準をイギリスとの間で共有し、調整したうえでお互いのコンセンサスを取りました。

データ上での確認ですと、紙による発色の影響や、合わせているとはいえディスプレイでの見え方と紙に落ちたときの見え方の違いなどの問題がどうしてもあるので、あまり当社として推奨はしておりません。しかし、限られた条件で最善最高のアウトプットを出すというのも必要な話です。先方さまとデータを通じてですが可能な限りコンセンサスをとり、それを間違いなく再現していくというフローをとりました。

今回、出来上がった本はロンドンのOK-RM様にもお送りしましたが、結果的には高いご評価をいただくことができました。日本のモノづくりの力を見せることができたといってもよいでしょうか？

Goldwin0 is an experimental platform to unlock the potential of the Goldwin brand. Through collaboration with creators from various fields, this is an advanced and experimental project that envisions a future where humans and nature coexist together.

I created a book as Goldwin0 #5. The design was by OK-RM, a world-famous British design group. It is a thick, standard-bound book with a gamidare cover, and a saddle-stitched booklet is attached to the front and back gamidare sections. Although the specifications are quite unique, we decided on the specifications through repeated discussions from a distance. Also, due to various circumstances this time, we were unable to provide color proofing to OK-RM, so we shared the color standards as data with the UK, made adjustments, and reached a mutual consensus.

When we check the data, we do not really recommend it because there are problems such as the effect of coloring on the paper and the difference between how it looks on the display and how it looks when it falls on the paper, even though it is matched. However, it is also necessary to produce the best possible output under limited conditions. We followed the flow of reaching as much consensus as possible through data with the other party, and then reproducing it without fail.

This time, we sent the completed book to OK-RM in London, and as a result, we were able to receive a high evaluation. Is it fair to say that we were able to demonstrate the power of Japanese manufacturing?
