アーティストブックであるガスブックを長年出版し、山梨県北杜市の「GASBON METABOLISM」を拠点にクリエイターコミュニティを拡げるガスアズインターフェイスさまは、当社の長年のお得意様。今回、「いいものをつくる」という信念のもと活動を続けられるクリエイティブアソシエーションＣＥＫＡＩさまと資本業務提携を結ばれました。今後はそれぞれのネットワークを活かして共同商品開発や共同イベントなどを開催していくそうです。

そして、その第一歩として、『GASBOOK 38 CEKAI』を発行されました。これは、ＣＥＫＡＩの創立10周年を記念した、その膨大な活動と作品の記録集です。

今回、製本は篠原紙工さまが担当され、3社での打ち合わせを重ねました。ガスブックシリーズの一員として、見た目1冊としての本の形状を保つというコンセプトの下、膨大な記録を収蔵しつつ作品集と歴史コミックという内容で2分冊という仕様になっています。

印刷もコミックのほうはできるだけスミの濃度を出したいというご要望。印刷は濃度を出すためにインキを盛りすぎると裏付きなどのトラブルが発生しがちとなるため、効果とリスク低減を第一に考え、スミをできる限り盛ったＵＶ印刷で行いました。カラーページもバラ校をだして色の補正を行いつつ、それ以外は調子を合わせながらプリモジェット出力にてコスト削減を行いながら、最終的には印刷立ち合いで決め込みました。

篠原紙工さんの製本の様々な試行錯誤もあり、最終的に重量感のある独特な形状の２分冊の本が出来上がりました。

発売を記念し、代官山蔦屋書店で2024年11月18日（月）～12月06日でフェアを開催します。11月26日（火）にはトークイベントも。

Gas as Interface, which has been publishing the artist book Gas Book for many years and is expanding the creator community based at GASBON METABOLISM in Hokuto City, Yamanashi Prefecture, is a long-time customer of our company. This time, we have entered into a capital and business alliance with Creative Association CEKAI, which continues to operate based on the belief of “creating good things.” In the future, they plan to utilize their respective networks to jointly develop products and hold joint events.

As a first step towards this goal, “GASBOOK 38 CEKAI” was published. This is a collection of records of CEKAI’s extensive activities and works to commemorate its 10th anniversary.

This time, Shinohara Shiko was in charge of the binding, and the three companies had many meetings. As a member of the Gas Book series, it is designed to maintain the appearance of a single book, and is divided into two volumes: a collection of works and a historical comic, while storing a vast amount of records.

When it comes to printing comics, there is a request to make the smudges as dense as possible. When printing, applying too much ink to achieve density tends to cause problems such as backing, so we prioritized effectiveness and risk reduction, and used UV printing to minimize blemishes. We also sent out separate copies of the color pages and corrected the colors, and while keeping everything else in order, we used Primojet output to reduce costs, and in the end, we decided on it while witnessing the printing.

After a lot of trial and error with Shinohara Shiko’s bookbinding, the final product was a two-part book with a unique shape and a sense of weight.

To commemorate the release, a fair will be held at Daikanyama Tsutaya Bookstore from November 18th (Monday) to December 6th, 2024. There will also be a talk event on Tuesday, November 26th.
