様々な企業の広告やアーティストのCDジャケットなどを数多く手掛ける、才能豊かなアートディレクター、吉田ユニ氏の作品集です。ラフォーレミュージアム原宿で開催される個展に合わせて、ここまでの数々の作品を集めたものです。

見開きで掲載したい作品が多くあるということで、当初製本は開きを良くするために特殊な細工をする広開本というオーダーでいただきました。しかし、広開本の束見本をおつくりしましたが開きにご満足いただけず、かといって構造的にそれ以上開かせるのは難しいこともあり、急遽『コデックス製本』に切り替えました。

コデックス製本は、上製本の本文だけを背で固めたような製本方式ですが、今回はそれに雁垂れ付きの表紙を表４側でのみ接着する形をとりました。こうすることで、表紙を存在させて本文の保護を実現しながら、本文は180度開くことも可能になりました。ただ、コデックス製本の難点として、背固めの糊がかがりの糸の穴から侵入して、本文同士が一部接着されてしまう現象がありますので、それを最小限に抑えるため、2種類の糊をつかって二度塗りを行っています。

もちろん印刷も、当社のプリンティングディレクターが同行して色を打合せさせていただいたうえで、吉田さんご本人に全台立ち合いもしていただきました。全体で250ページにもなる本ですから、印刷も丁寧かつ手早くやらないとご迷惑をおかけしてしまいます。都心にある工場の強みを発揮しつつ、昼勤しかない中で、厳しいチェックをいただきながら、なんとか2日で刷り上げることができました。
表紙も、文字のエンボス加工、傷や脂のつきづらい強化マットPP採用と、様々な工夫も施しています。

ラフォーレミュージアムで行われた個展も、この作品集も、好評のうちに終了いたしました。

This is a collection of works by Yuni Yoshida, a talented art director who has worked on numerous advertisements for various companies and CD jackets for artists. This is a collection of a number of works so far, in conjunction with a solo exhibition to be held at Laforet Museum Harajuku.

Since there were many works that I would like to publish in double-page spreads, I initially ordered the book to be bound in a wide-open format with special techniques to improve the spread. However, although we made a sample of a wide spread book, we were not satisfied with the way the books opened, and it was structurally difficult to make them open any further, so we suddenly switched to “codex binding.”

Codex binding is a method of binding in which only the main text of the hardbound book is hardened on the spine, but this time we have glued a cover with a wild goose tag only on the front 4 side. This allows the cover to exist and protect the text, while also allowing the text to be opened 180 degrees. However, one of the problems with codex binding is that the backing glue gets in through the holes in the stitching threads, causing parts of the text to become glued to each other.To minimize this, two types of glue are used and coated twice.

Of course, for printing, our printing director accompanied us to discuss the colors, and Mr. Yoshida personally witnessed all the machines. The book has 250 pages in total, so if you don’t print it carefully and quickly, you’ll be inconvenienced. Taking advantage of the strengths of our factory located in the heart of the city, we were able to print the print in two days, with only daytime shifts and strict checks.
The cover has various features such as embossed text and reinforced matte PP that is resistant to scratches and grease.

Both the solo exhibition held at the Laforet Museum and this collection of works ended with great acclaim.
